TYPICAL DETAIL FOR (SCA2) BEAM CONNECTED TO (SB2) BEAM WITH HINDED CONNECTION.

This Architectural drawing is section of section of typical detail for beam connected to beam with hinted connection. In RCC construction, we use the following type to connect secondary beam to main beam. In steel construction, the connection between main beam and secondary beam can be formed using various methods. The flange of secondary (supported) beam is coped at the junction of main beam so that the top flanges of both beams are at same level. If the main beam is RCC beam, the secondary beam gets seated on the main beam. This will create a concentrated load placement location and the bending moment in main beam will increase. But the depth of secondary beam will be less than the main beam supporting the secondary beam. This will be in partially fixed condition and induce torsional force on the main beam if the secondary beam is not continuing both sides of main beam. This torsion is addressed by adding additional area of reinforcement at top and bottom and providing stirrups at closer intervals near main beam support location for a length of 2d from. support face where ‘d' is the effective depth of main beam.
