Elevation of typical beam RFT details with depth change at top level, bottom level and with width change.

This Architectural drawing is elevation of typical beam RFT details with depth change at top level, bottom level and with width change.  A beam is considered as a deep beam when the ratio of effective span to overall depth is <2.0 for simply supported members. The beam theories which are based on assumptions are useful in case of those problems, where thickness of beams is moderate. Total depth of beam = effective depth + diameter of bar/2 + clear cover size. Total depth D= 225mm, It should be taken as 225mm. Width of beam = D/1.5, 225/1.5 = 150mm, so width of beam should be not less than 200mm in case of Block wall and 225mm in case of Brick wall. Reinforced concrete deep beams have many useful applications in building structures such as transfer girders, wall footings, foundation pile caps, floor diaphragms, and shear walls.
