Typically a base plate consist of a single plate, fillet welded to a steel column and then attached to the foundation with four hold-down bolts. The bolts are normally cast into the foundations with anchor plates to avoid pull out. A temporary form representing the base of a denture; used for making maxillomandibular (jaw) relation records or for arranging artificial trial placement in the mouth to ensure exact fit of a denture. Base plate design is a key part of any structure design because loads are transferred from the superstructure to the foundation via the base plate.
