This Architectural Drawing is Entrance and Terrace Stair Details. The entrance (the space in a wall) through which you enter or leave a room or building; the space that a door can close. A foyer is the first room you enter when walking through a front door, usually a smaller space or hallway. Traditionally, foyers are used to greet guests and welcome them into your home. A foyer often has a coat closet or adequate space to store all of your guests' belongings. When designing a staircase these are the basic components. There are Stringers, Treads, Risers, Newels, Winders and Landings, Handrail's and Balusters. Stringer – The inclined boards in which the treads and risers are enclosed. Tread – The top or horizontal surface of a step. Standard straight-run stairs have dimensions of a stair width of 36 inches or 91.4 centimeters, a stair tread depth of 11 inches or 28 centimeters, a stair riser size of 7 inches or 18 centimeters, and a length from the bottom to the top of the stairs of 10 feet or 3 meters.
