<p>This Architectural Drawing is of Remote Mount flanged style. A flange is <strong>a category of gasket made to fix two sections of pipe together, or act as a removable plug at the end of a single pipe</strong>. All flanges are round disks with holes for bolts around the rim, but the commonalities end there. Flanges are used <strong>to connect pipes with each other, to valves, to fittings, and to specialty items such as strainers and pressure vessels</strong>. A cover plate can be connected to create a "blind flange". Flanges are joined by bolting, and sealing is often completed with the use of gaskets or other methods.
