The minimum desirable physical slope should be <strong>0.5 percent for concrete and HDPE pipe and 1.0 percent for metal pipe</strong>, or the slope which will produce a velocity of 2.5 feet per second when the storm sewer is flowing full, whichever is greater. The ideal slope of any drain line is <strong>¼ inch per foot of pipe</strong>. In other words, for every foot the pipe travels horizontally, it should be dropping ¼ inch vertically.
