These include round base nuts, slab base nuts, tab base nuts, hex and square nuts, retainer weld nuts, tube end nuts, twin piloted nuts and more. As a general principle, welding should not be done on bolts or nuts. However, if essential, the composition of the bolt (and nuts if involved) must be carefully considered. Retainer weld nuts, also known as bridge weld nuts, have a floating nut retained inside a retainer to compensate for inconsistencies.
